Creating a data governance policy can be an onerous task especially one that is accessible and can be updated continually. Often the concepts around what a data governance policy are discussed, but actual templates or examples that can be replicated are difficult to locate. This session will walk participants through how Hayward USD worked with a variety of siloed, independent systems run by different departments to develop a unifying data governance policy that identifies the roles of each district system and the data being shared with that system. We will discuss the pathway used to bring the silos together for a policy that defines our data security and is integral to our cybersecurity plan. We will walk participants through creating both a document describing each system along with a chart identifying the staff responsible for each role. https://bit.ly/COSNdata
