Eddard Romero is a Deputy Chief Information Officer, for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Information Technology Services. With over 20 years of experience in various roles, he has proven to be an effective leader in the deployment, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive technology systems encompassing network and security infrastructure, server and storage management, operating systems, databases, multi-cloud platforms, and other crucial infrastructure components. With his expertise and knowledge, Eddard successfully formulated IT infrastructure strategies and has steered sizable, multifaceted teams to successful outcomes. He currently oversees over 200 technical and administrative staff that support 21st century learning for over 630,000 students, teachers, and staff.
Eddard played a pivotal role as the initial point of contact during the cyber-attack on the LAUSD in September 2022. He acted as the central liaison with key Law Enforcement agencies, including the FBI, and collaborated with various cyber security vendors to facilitate immediate and effective communication among all stakeholders, culminating in the prioritized restoration of critical LAUSD services.
Eddard spearheaded the initiative to transition LAUSD traditional data center to a contemporary, performance-optimized facility. He also led the strategic migration from legacy Mainframe systems to cost-efficient, fully managed collocated services, significantly reducing expenditure on outdated hardware and software licensing and maintenance.
