Jon Walker began his journey in information technology 25 years ago as a 15-year-old student intern at the Escambia County School District. With a career spanning both the private and public sectors, Jon has consistently gravitated back to K-12 education environments, contributing to private and public schools alike. His roles have varied widely, from Network and System Administrator to serving as the Chief Technology Officer for the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 2007, Jon played a pivotal role in launching one of the southeast US's first 1:1 laptop programs, a project that set the stage for modern educational technology integrations. Over the last five years, Jon has delved deeper into the realm of Information Security, earning his CISSP and currently leading as the Director of Information Security & Systems Architecture for the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) in Longmont, Colorado. The SVVSD Learning Technology Program has emerged as a beacon of excellence in educational technology, earning accolades from notable organizations such as CoSN, ISTE, the Learning Counsel, and Apple.
Jon's innovative leadership and technical expertise have been instrumental in pioneering educational technology initiatives, solidifying his role as a catalyst for transformation in K-12 education.
