AJ Phillips is the Director of Information and Instructional Technology for Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) in Manassas, Virginia. Ms. Phillips has occupied this position for eight years. She is an experienced educator with 28 years in education, with 6 of those years focused on instructional technology.
Ms. Phillips received her BA from SUNY Oswego with a major in Elementary Education. She completed her M.Ed. from George Mason University in 1999, and her MS in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton in 2008. In 2015 she was recognized by the Center for Digital Education as one of the top 30 Technologists, Transformers, and Trailblazers. The Fall 2016 Toggle magazine acknowledged Ms. Phillips for building schools of the future with student achievement as the foundation. CDW-G, EdTech K-12 magazine highlighted how Ms. Phillips “created a better business case” with the PWC School Board to increase bandwidth in the Division. In 2020, under Mrs. Phillips leadership, PWCS was the International Society for Technology Education Distinguished District Award Winner. And in 2024 PWCS' IT department was named by Foundry’s Computerworld as a 2024 Best Place to Work in IT, including ranking ninth in diversity among large organizations.
