Serving in the Office of the Superintendent, Matt Guilfoyle serves as Chief Information Officer for Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS). He is responsible for the strategic management of communication and marketing, information and instructional technology, and business and community partnerships in support of the division. In his role, Guilfoyle also serves on the Board of the SPARK Education Foundation for PWCS and is responsible for the oversight of the SPARK Executive Director. Guilfoyle is also responsible for the oversight of legislative outreach and PWCS government relations.
Guilfoyle has led the rapid transformation of PWCS' information technology systems and tools. Under his leadership, PWCS was named a Computerworld Best Place to Work in Information Technology. In response to the global COIVID-19 pandemic, Guilfoyle oversaw the complete implementation of a five-year digital equity plan in a matter of months, including provisioning laptops for more than 90,000 students and 7,000 teachers, deploying a cloud-based divisionwide learning management system, and achieving significant infrastructure upgrades. Further, Guilfoyle has overseen the migration of critical business systems to the cloud, executed information security upgrades including multi-factor authentication, and led the strategic planning for the adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) across PWCS.
Prior to his joining PWCS, Guilfoyle served as executive director of communications and community relations for Fairfax County Public Schools. Guilfoyle also previously served as public affairs officer for the Architect of the Capitol, director of global internal communications for The Nature Conservancy, deputy assistant Chief Administrative Officer for the U.S. House of Representatives. He also worked as the deputy manager for corporate communications and government relations for Computer Sciences Corporation. Additionally, he held roles with Ketchum Public Relations and American Management Systems.
He holds a bachelor's degree in political communication from George Washington University.
